I joined Croda Japan in 1999. I was firstly placed at the Shiga site to work in manufacturing operations and looked after day to day production of super refined products. This first-hand experience in operations helped my career later.
After dealing with manufacturing operations at the Shiga site for 8 months, I was transferred to the Personal Care Sales Department based in Tokyo. This move was quite a big challenge in my professional career. I started familiarisation of sales activities and took a first step as a Sales Representative for several customers 3 months later. I picked up the basics from my senior sales staff as well as customers.
I was transferred to the Osaka office as the Sales Representative responsible for taking care of customers in Kansai area. My priority mission was to ensure a smooth hand over from an experienced Sales Manager nearing retirement. During the transition period, I fortunately had opportunities to get acquainted with top management of customers. The relationship became a big influence to my business style afterwards.
I was promoted to be an Assistant Manager in PC sales. I put my focus on joint development projects for hair colour agents with salons. It was very exciting to create new products with customer satisfaction and this reminded me of the importance of team building.
I was promoted to Deputy Manager in PC sales and was responsible not just for business development but also for training younger staff. As a manager, I paid attention to giving clear communication in order to unify our team.
I was transferred to the Tokyo head office and promoted to PC Sales Manager role responsible for the overall PC sales activities in Croda Japan. Since it was the first time in 10 years I am working in Tokyo, I spent a lot of time focused on customers in order to build strong relationships with them.
