Joining Croda Inc. in August 1991, immediately following graduation from Rider University in Lawrenceville, New Jersey was a great choice. Looking back, 25 years later, what started as a temporary assignment has not turned out to be so temporary!
Within a few short months, I was extended an opportunity of an entry level position within the finance department. During my temporary employment period, I was able to see the type of company and people that worked at Croda and when I was extended a full time employment opportunity I was delighted and could not pass it up. I was solely responsible for all Croda Inc. and Croda Food & Bakery credit and collections.
In August 1997, I was promoted to Accountant. I was responsible for the financial filings for Croda Inks and Croda Adhesives. This was a thrilling opportunity to be able to broaden my professional experience.
I was assigned the task of integrating Sederma’s customers and vendors into Croda’s AS400 system. During this implementation period, I gained knowledge about Croda’s newest venture. This was my first opportunity in integrating businesses’ and realising the available synergies. I was extremely excited to have been given such an opportunity.
As the receivables were growing, I was then promoted to Manager of Accounts Receivables for all North American Companies. With much perseverance and persistence I was determined and succeeded in reducing outstanding debt for all US companies.
In 2004, I was selected to the North American SAP implementation team. During this opportunity, not only did this allow me to work alongside the UK SAP team but also several US teams. This experience allowed me to expand my knowledge of how each module affects another. This was a great experience in broadening my horizons and build lasting relationships with other departments.
To ensure Croda’s financial reporting was accurate, I was promoted to Assistant Controller. A few of my key responsibilities was to ensure data integrity and accuracy while adhering to the Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) in the United States.
In January 2007, I was selected to successfully implement the finance module for the newly acquired Uniqema. This integration was most significant not only because of the size of the business but also because of the vast number of products. The successful completion of this project later advanced my career to Financial Accounting Manager.
Although this opportunity advanced my career it further challenged me. Not only am I responsible for strict internal controls, successful internal and external audits, managing customer requests but also keeping our vendors satisfied all at the same time! As my role has changed several times, with the never ending requests from our customers and vendors, my days are never the same. I am honoured to work for such a successful company and be a member of the Croda family.
